Recompense had a limited international release – opening at the BFI in London, with distribution by Virgin Shorts. It was an official selection for the New York Independent Film Festival, Underwire Festival, Carmel International Film Festival, London Independent Film Festival.
1917. Lancashire, England. Benson and his wife, Nora, are grieving the loss of their son, Alec. As the couple reconciles his death, it is revealed that nothing comes without consequence. Shot on 35mm, Recompense is based on the short story The Monkey’s Paw by W.W. Jacobs
